Senior Adult Ministry

seniors adults

     Our Senior Adult ministry - sometimes referred to as the JOY (Just Older Youth) Club - meets monthly and hosts events throughout the year for all senior adult members of our church.       If you are a senior adult and would like more information about this group and its activities, please call the church office.  

2012 Calendar-

Monday, Feb. 13 - 12 Noon - The Albemarle - Complimentary lunch and facility tour hosted by Cherry Bass-Brooks - up to 100 members can be accommodated - deadline of February 8 to register.  Arrange your own transportation.

Thursday, March 22 - Trip to Raleigh to tour the NC Executive Mansion (no charge); lunch at Big Ed's City Market.

Thursday, April 19 -  Trip to Historic Bath, tour colonial homes (that are furnished) and a museum ($2.00 admission covers all); on to Belhaven for lunc at Fish Hooks Restaurant and QVC Outlet.

Thursday, May 17 - Trip to New Bern for 90-minute trolley sightseeing tour conducted by professional guide ($15); lunch at Chelsea.

Thursday, June 21 - 2:30 p.m. - Friendship Hall - meeting - speaker Mr. Derek Haskins, Health Promotion Coordinator, Edgecombe County Health Department - will give a program on subjects of interest to seniors.

Thursday, July 19 - 2:30 p.m. - Friendship Hall - Meeting - Guest Speaker will Mr. Alan Thornton, Tarboro Town Manager.

Tuesday, August 7 - Trip to Edenton to attend Rocky Hock lunch theatre ($27.95) at Nixon Catering - 12 noon lunch followed by performance of Alleluis, written by Bill and Gloria Gaither.

Thursday, September 20 - 2:30 p.m. - Friendship Hall - Meeting - guest speaker will be Mr. Lorenzo Carmon, Edgecombe County Manager.

Thursday, October 18 - Trip to Syllvan Heights Bird Park , Scotland Neck ($7); buffet lunch at Abram's.

Thursday, November 15 - 5:00 p.m. - Friendship Hall - Thanksgiving dinner with entertainment by Kay Hindsley and family,
